Donskoi (Донской)

Tatiana Kouchnareva of Anmore, Canada recived seeds from Tamara Yaschenko’s collection in 2006 as part of a large seed exchange and listed this variety at Seed Savers 2007 Yearbook. This is what Tatiana Kouchnareva writes about this variety: ‘There are two tomato varieties called ‘Donskoi’ in Vavilov Institute database – ‘Donskoi 68’ (1950) and ‘Donskoi 202′ (1959). It is not clear if this variety is related to any of the two’.
‘Donskoi’ is an indetermiante, regular leaf plant, that produce very high yield of beautiful, large (12-18 oz.) red heart-shaped fruits with delicious, sweet and very rich tomato flavor. Midseason, first ripe fruit can be harvested about 80 days after transplant.
